Shovel Out is a stylized first-person action game set in a dark, noir-inspired afterlife. The player controls Sleazy - the only living resident of Hotel Cotard - on a mission to rescue his beloved Sindy from the mysterious Boss.
The world of Hotel Cotard is a character-driven afterlife with an infinite number of floors, populated by eccentric undead: skeleton hotel staff, zombie middle class, sleepwalking TV addicts, ghosts and undead dogs. Combat combines melee shovel attacks with a revolver, elemental bullet types, dash and slow-motion mechanics.
The game features 26 levels across a Prologue and 3 Chapters, with a dynamic noir soundtrack that reacts to combat intensity. The Prologue (4 levels) is complete - Chapter 1 is currently in production targeting March 2026, with full release planned for July 2026.
